Normal Township offers two ongoing financial assistance programs for Normal residents: General Assistance and Emergency Assistance.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

General Assistance<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

General Assistance is a locally supported program which provides up to $500 in monthly financial assistance grant to persons who do not have adequate income or resources to provide for their basic needs. To qualify, the individual must meet certain eligibility criteria. This program is designed for individuals in Normal Township who are 18 or over and who do not have minor children in the household and who have lost their income and need help while looking for employment or pursuing a disability decision.<\/span><\/p>

Eligibility<\/p>

  • Must be a Normal Township resident<\/li>
  • Age 18 or older<\/li>
  • US Citizen or lawful permanent resident<\/li>
  • No Minor Children in the home<\/li>
  • Must have applied for food stamps, medical card and unemployment<\/li>
  • Those receiving Supplement Security Income (SSI) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) are not eligible for the program<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Emergency Assistance Program<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    \n\t\t\t\t\t

    Applicants who do not qualify for General Assistance may still qualify for Emergency Assistance on rent or utilities. Emergency assistance is for residents who have:<\/p>

    • A five-day notice or eviction notice from the landlord or a current disconnect notice from a utility<\/li>
    • Household income at or below 150% poverty for the area<\/li>
    • Must be a Normal Township resident<\/li>
    • Age 18 or older<\/li>
    • US Citizen or lawful permanent resident<\/li>
    • Must have applied for food stamps, medical card and unemployment<\/li>
    • Those receiving Supplement Security Income (SSI) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) are not eligible for the program<\/li><\/ul>

      This assistance is available only once in a 12-month period with a 3 time lifetime limit.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
